Mine muslimske superhelter: Habib Ali al-Jifri

Min forrige muslimske superhelt.

As he worships more, he gets angry more. We see some of our brothers, may Allah guide us and them, the more he gets attached to the *deen, the more his face grows angry, the more rude he becomes with people, the more he despises the community, the more harsh he is with family members that are less attached to the religion. Where does this come from?

*deen betyr religion.

Mine muslimske superhelter: Usama Canon

(…) when people get to a place where they feel so spiritual and religious, that somehow their religious experience makes them immune from having to deal with the poor little reality that you are dealing with on the ground:

I’m sorry you want to commit suicide, I’m sorry you’re kicked out of your house, I’m sorry your parents disowned you. But I’m just making alot of dhikr right now. So I’ll make dua* for you while I’m making dhikr**.

That’s a reality. Spiritual bypassing. Look, to be honest, alot of times you talk about cultural sensitivity. But what you’re really asking is why don’t American muslims have space where they can be safe as American muslims?

Usama Canon

*dua: en form for bønn, supplication på engelsk.

**dhikr: ihugkommelse, religiøs individuell eller kollektiv messing.
